Presentation at CNMAT 2026

19.06.2026

MAGELLAN research was presented at CNMAT 2026, the XVIII Congreso Nacional de Materiales CNMAT 2026, held in Portugalete, Spain from 16 to 19 June 2026.

The presentation, titled “Impact of Operating Conditions on the Recycling of NdFeB Permanent Magnets through Pyrometallurgical Processes”, focused on the recycling of NdFeB permanent magnets through plasma melting. The contribution provided an in-depth analysis of the process, highlighting the technical advantages of plasma-based treatment and the importance of controlling operating conditions to optimise recycling outcomes, drawing insights from MAGELLAN’s research work.

By presenting this work to the materials science and engineering community, the activity helped disseminate MAGELLAN’s research on advanced recycling routes for end-of-life permanent magnets. The contribution also supported wider knowledge exchange on how pyrometallurgical processes can contribute to more efficient recovery of rare earth materials and the development of more circular permanent magnet value chains in Europe.
