Participation at MZT VII

06.07.2026

MAGELLAN partner Tecnalia contributed to the MZT VII Congress, held at the Public University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain, on the 2nd of July 2026, with a presentation delivered by Ane Jimenez on the role of coatings in the recycling of NdFeB permanent magnets.

The presentation, titled “NdFeB iman iraunkorren estalduren konposizioa eta morfologia azterketa, birziklatzeko ahalmena hobetzeko” / “Analysis of the composition and morphology of NdFeB permanent magnet coatings to improve recyclability”, addressed how protective coatings can affect the recovery and recycling of end-of-life magnets. It highlighted the technical challenges created by coating residues and discussed possible approaches to reduce their impact on downstream recycling processes, drawing insights from MAGELLAN’s research activities.

By engaging with a specialised local audience, the activity helped disseminate MAGELLAN’s work on improving the recovery of permanent magnets and supporting more efficient circular economy routes for rare earth materials.
