On May 19th 2026, MAGELLAN was presented at CWIEME Berlin through the dedicated session “Magellan Project: Building Strategic Synergies Across the Electrical Manufacturing Value Chain”. The session introduced MAGELLAN as a European project working to strengthen collaboration across the electrical manufacturing ecosystem, with a focus on the role of high-performance permanent magnets and critical raw materials in advanced electrification technologies.
The session was delivered by Alexandre Damiens, Head of Development and Industrial Partnerships for Rare Earths/Magnets at Orano, and Benoît Dhien, Business Development Manager at CEA.

The discussion explored how strategic alignment, raw material intelligence and cross-sector partnerships can help industry address supply chain dependencies and volatility. Particular attention was given to high-performance magnets, which are essential for electric motors and e-mobility applications, as well as to the need to integrate circularity and recycling into future value chains.

For MAGELLAN, the session provided an opportunity to connect the project’s work with the priorities of CWIEME stakeholders, including OEMs, suppliers, technology providers and other actors across the electrical manufacturing sector. The session highlighted the project’s relevance to supply chain resilience, sustainable magnet production, recycled-content permanent magnets and future-ready European value chains.
By participating in CWIEME Berlin, MAGELLAN supported dialogue on how collaboration can become a source of competitive advantage for Europe’s electrification ecosystem. The activity helped communicate the project’s contribution to more resilient, circular and sustainable permanent magnet value chains.
